Well be glad it wasn't a Cobra. I have a Cobra ESD-9850 in the other car and today I picked up a KA signal very weak but to my right was a CHP unit. (He must have left his radar on as he was with a tow truck).
Well I'm just across the street from him very close and I'm getting a signal strength of 1 but the detector was on "City" and I my car and detector were like in a L position. He was on my side but still close and it should have been stronger than that or does my detector have to face the car with radar to get a stronger signal?

i dont have a v1, but i know in my dads car with my bel v995, when i have most of the accessories on (lights, heat, rear window defogger, radio, heated seat and have the detector plugged in), it'll low volt on me if the antilock breaks kick in. thats when the car's on and all's normal. found that out in the last snow storm...not like i needed the detector in the snow but i had it up from driving earlier and didn't bother to take it down. it scared the crap out of me at first, i was thinking something was wrong with it, but then i changed it to the voltmeter and it was down in the 10.8v-11.4v range where on my car its usually 14-15v
