Well, it looks like I'll have to send my V1 in again this year. I've been getting a single bar on X band, forward facing. It doesn't matter if I'm alone or with traffic. /sigh ...just as the holiday comes around and I'm making a road trip next week.

Man, terrible timing. At least you have radar detectors that you can use for backup.
My Sprint cell phone used to cause X band falsing on my V1, have you tried eliminating extraneous sources such as this?
Valentine One (3.858 Ice Cream Truck, 3.812 in Vette)
4 Head LI (On Vette) (7.11 CPU Regular heads front, HP Heads on the rear)
9500ci (On Vette)
LI Quad (On Ice Cream Truck)
LI Dual (On SRX, 7.06 CPU)
ProLaser II, ProLaser III, Stalker LZ-1, LTI Marksman & Laser Atlanta "R" (looking for an Ultralyte LRB)
2008 Corvette Z-51 Coupe
Escort 9500 ix (Cadillac SRX)
In car GPS too close or cell phones have caused this to happen to me in the past. Sometime switching to big L helps, a few other times I disabled X band until the trip was done.
I drove with it for a little bit today and I received no falses.
So driving to work this morning, two bars on X band forward. On the way back from work, no falsing. WTF?
That's the way my phone was, weak X band signal for 20-30 miles then it would be gone. A few days later it would be back. Turn the phone off it went away!

I had the phone it its cradel both times. This isn't the first time I've had X band false with this V1. First time I had full alert to the rear. I sent it in and got it fixed. And I've been running it this way for several months and only recently this is an issue.
I also had to send in my old thick unit twice before due to the micro diode clip in the horn was not making good contact which gave the X band alerts mostly when cold for about two minutes after start-up but got worse over time. The front was first then the rear happened about a year later. Valentine stated that they had to use a microscope to do this for it is very small and is a common problem. They also did up-dates also for free for I have never had to pay for a repair. Good luck!
