Default New Chrysler safety systems and V1 K-band falsing

    Bad news everyone,

Here at home in metro Detroit, the new Town and Country and other Chryslers with the fancy blind spot, merging, and side scan radar sensors are starting to appear everywhere. They cause a half-strength K-band alert whether POP is on or off, similar to how weak photo radar encounters behave.

I have not had a chance to take my 8500 X50 to one of these minivans to see how it fares.

Bottom line is, looks like we have yet another radar annoyance to deal with!

Great, we already have enough headaches in Ohio with ODOT's speed monitoring system!

I came up on a new 300m and the v1 alerted laser 3 times and screamed k band and ka band. It confuses the hell out of the v1.

I can't believe that nobody involved with the development of these cars uses a detector and notices these problems.

In any case, if someone can't make a lane change in a mini van without radar assistance they should have their license torn up.

It wouldn't be so bad if they would just use X band, since most states don't use X band anymore. That will probably never happen though, they will move on to Ka. I dread the day when they start putting Ka blind spot assist systems in cars...ughhh

K-band muting(7) works great with Ohio's speed sensors and should work well with other weak K-band signals. Not a signal missed filtered with the V1.

The Chrysler system is the worst I've seen so far. I've seen it on some minivans. On two of them it was very strong, setting the V1 off almost a half-mile away. On one of them it was very weak, only causing an alert within 100 ft.
