Default Multiple bogeys from one bogey?

I'm fairly new to my Valentine and on my way to work this morning, I had a cop infront of me. My V1 went from 1 bogey, to 2, 3, 4, and then 5. Then it'd fluctuate from 5 to 3 depending on how many cars were coming the other day. They were all Ka bands, is this a normal occurance?

At close range the bogey counter will "ghost" like you describe. It could be it's picking up reflections from the vehicles in front of the cruiser as they bounce back. But no this is not unusual.

That's called ghosting, but I have never had it go past 2 when passing a cop. Do you have a new unit?

On my unit, it occurs when pop is on, and when it's hot, like in the summer. I now point a vent to the unit and disabled pop. This issue doesn't occur anymore unless I have a passenger and they point the vent away from the unit.

What unit do you have? If you cooked it before it might be time to tune it up

I have the 3.872 version and have actually had the bogey counter jump to 3 and 4 a few times when passing leos.

Weird, my 812 doesn't show that many alerts even when passing by a leo.

Are you in the lane NEXT to the leo when you pass?

It does happen more when I'm behind or in front of a leo going the same direction, but I've even had it happen while traveling one direction on the interstate with a leo coming at me on the opposite side of the interstate. For whatever reason, it tends to happen more on K band encounters rather than Ka. But this isn't a regular occurence. Normally, ghosting doesn't happen with my 3.872; there's just some weird encounters that cause it, not sure why.
