nine_c1 could explain this much better than I but it has to do with how the V1 Belscorts do their "scanner sweaps" differently. VR has a patent on a technique that basically makes them much more adept at picking up QT. I honestly don't see Escort changing things if VRs patent on that expires because the way I understand it the change would require a completely redesigned RD.
Escort will have to start from the ground up anyway if they want to add directional capabilities.
Why would anybody assume they are waiting for the patent to expire? They can engineer it now, then release it once the patent expires. I am SURE they already have it in the works, waiting for all us beta testers to buy it when it first comes out.

Wouldn't it be funny if everybody was waiting for Valentine Research to fail and Escort to scoop up their business, but instead Mike V. came out with a completely new version of the V1 that addressed all of the features that people wanted, pissed on Belscort's new V1 competitor, and did it at a lower price.

Sure, that might happen. And the sun might go nova tomorrow, too.

I hope it happens. If so, I am buying a lottery ticket that day.

Everyone keeps slamming Mike for not doing anything. If some of you remember when he left Escort what happened to Escort (NOTHING). It took them how many years to catch up with the CI and now to go along with the CI they have the Redline. If anybody is behind the eight ball it is Escort. They should be way ahead of the game and have bigger and better things for us and still the V1 beats or holds its own with the CI and Redline. Can somebody tell me what kind of Engineers are over at Escort?

Actually the 8500 when it first came out gave the V1 a run for its money many years ago, and it was $100 less. The V1 doesn't even hold a candle to the CI so thats not a fair comparison.

Escort has Engineers, VR has Mike V. But if Escort is behind the ball, VR isn't even playing the game.

But seriously, Mike just has a simple business plan, control everything personally and provide exactly what his product is supposed to do, nothing more nothing less.
The problem is the consumers needs/wants have changed and so has the technology to fulfill the consumers needs. Though the V1 is about as good as it gets being a radar detector, people want more, and in a more current package.

I don't think anyone is disputing how good the V1 is, just that it could be so much better with minimal effort. Imagine if the V1 had just full color LED's, or the ability to change its modes according to area.
The V1's radar detection is tops, but there are many new factors/threats that VR is just ignoring. We pick on Escort for poor QT performance, what about absolutely no speed trap capabilities at all from VR.

With lack of game to go after, the pack turns upon itself!

I think we might all look back on the speculation done this year (next year) and look silly.

I'm confident that both Ohio based companies are hard at work preparing the next generation detectors. In the meantime, we have to say the current V1 and top shelf Belscorts are doing a pretty good job sniffing out Radar.

In the meantime I'm as impatient as the next guy...........I can't wait to see what they've been working on.

I will have to diasgree with you on the CI because it looks to me like the Redline and CI are about the same and the V1 and Redline are very close. I'm very unhappy with Escort because here you have a very big Company and Valentine Research(Small Company) going head to head and Escort should have the edge because they probably have 4 times the Engineers then V1. I think Escort makes way to many RD's and needs to work on fixing the LJ on the CI and the ramp-up on the Redline. I want a better product from Escort before I will buy it!

Another area V1 is simply ignoring is the traffic flow sensors flooding highways with K band signals. Ohio is set to have over 1,000 of them BEFORE the year is up. Escort already has proprietary software, undoubtedly patented.

Here is Happya$$ on the Escort forum:

"the main reason why I switched from my beloved V1 to the Redline and my wife to the..........9500IX. It got the to the point where it made my V1 USELESS"

Your missing the point, the complaints here are about the V1's lack of new technology, not sensitivity. Its there lack of utilizing basic advances in technology that have been available for years and VR has done nothing to improve in this category. The CI (even the 9500ix) are in a totally different league than the V1 in this department, the V1 doesn't even hold a candle to it this way, well maybe a small arrow candle.

Redline there is not much difference i agree.
