Default Different car and have limited mounting options

    Hi all,

I got rid of my 07 Impreza and now have a Honda Civic Si hatchback. The civic has a tint strip that's impregnated into the glass and I'm assuming it's metallic of nature and of course will degrade performance.

I'm not cool with mounting it low as it lends itself to being exposed to sun/theft. The other option I can think of is a Blend Mount?

Any other ideas come to someone's mind?

I would bet that the strip you are referring to is non-metallic which has no effect on radar reception only laser detection which is pretty useless. Just mount it high and behind the strip to protect it from the sun and the eyes of thieves/cops. I would not personally spend $80 on a Blend Mount because it is too visible to the wrong types of people.

It’s pretty easy to tell if your tint strip is an offending variety. Find a stationary school speed radar sign, and get a reading from behind the tint strip. Then put the V1 out the side window in a horizontal position and see if there is any difference in signal strength, done.

Laser could be a bit different, would recommend reading “Ask Mike” under the VR web site. Although to be safe in most laser encounters a jammer is recommended.

It's not metallic tint. I have an Accord and I have no issues behind my tint strip.

^ Same here, mine (escort) is behind the tint strip with nothing but an increase in performance over a low mount.

    I hope that imprezza wasn't a WRX.

Thanks everyone for the info! I wasn't all too keen on the "blend mount", thankfully it's going back up high again.

    DUI Elite,
It's a 2005 Honda Civic Si, it only has the ceramic dots in the center by the rear view mirror, like my Impreza did. I'm actually talking about the tint itself.

    kkoshko,
No, the Impreza wasn't a WRX.
