Has anyone ever taken temps of a V1 on the windshield of a parked, enclosed vehicle in 90-100 degree sunshine? I'm just curious if it will actually exceed the specified maximum storage temperature of 185 degrees, as the black magnesium sure seems to get heat soaked fast.
I have no means of actually testing it, but my V1 will be cooking if I even briefly leave it out in the middle of the windshield in 80 degree sunshine, which is by no means extreme considering 80 degree weather is routinely reached in most parts of the U.S. and easily exceeded in the southern states. I would think the V1 should be able to hold up to and withstand these types of temperatures without requiring regular removal and storage. It's just scary because the V1 will not warn you with a "service required" message if it gets damaged.
Anyway, I have my V1 behind a 5% ceramic tint, which was installed so that I wouldn't have to constantly take it down for heat/stealth purposes. It does help with heat and it essentially conceals the V1 completely from the outside. Sure, I'll remove it if I know I'll be parked outside all day long in the heat, but I won't do it if I'll be back in 30-45 minutes; that'd be ridiculous.
Here are some links talking about the temperature on the inside of a vehicle on a sunny day. Who knows how much hotter a piece of magnesium, plastic, metal, or whatever else a detector is made of will get in these temperatures.

i take min out when i leave the car.
When I go to work, there is not shade. And I don't work in a place that I could bring it in. So I guess I'll continue to use the glovebox.
I have a infrared thermo, ill take some temps for everyone sometime soon. I think the hottest I have gotten it so far while driving is about 95-100.
This is a big difference from driving with it and leaving it bake though.
Mine never leaves the windshield and has been through some serious heat and cold in Oklahoma.
I have never had any issues. I pretty much never take it down summer or winter.
I was wondering if buying one of those solar powered fans would be a good idea?
