Scatter Saves DO happen!

Minimum laser alert is 4 consecutive high/low tones or about 4 seconds. I wish this was adjustable to lessor duration as often u'm close enough to see LEO drop Laser gun and V1 us still alerting.

There's been a few times that I've been the target and the cop is a rookie and my V1 alerts for 5 or 6 seconds on laser. That means he was holding the trigger down and couldn't get a speed. If the cop knows what they are doing, they shouldn't have to hold the trigger down. Just point, aim, shoot with one click of the trigger like a firearm. V1 alert would be about 1.5 to 2 seconds and then quiet.

Longer alerts could be due to an inexperienced cop having trouble locking in a speed, but they could also hold the gun on your car to track your speed, say if they think you're accelerating and can get you at a higher speed. So, a longer alert isn't always indicative of trouble locking in a speed.

The V1 is one of the best for gauging laser shot duration. The other is Beltronics (except the STi-R+), which gives a short blast if hit with a short burst. Escort's laser alert goes on for like 6-7 seconds so there's no way to know how long you were shot, unless you're shot for over 6-7 seconds. Same for the Bel STi-R+.

I have gotten laser scatter there times this year with the V1. I have actually been pretty impressed. Don't get me wrong I am not getting rid of the jammers anytime soon, LOL. But the V1 does pickup scatter which I thought before this year was a 1 in a 100 chance. But so far I am about 50/50 for the year. Here are a few video's from this year of the V1 catching laser scatter. The first one was just epic I can't believe the V1 picked up that many shots before he hit me.

As lucky as it may seem, I've got scatter alerts for around half of my (admittedly few) laser encounters on my V1. None on my previous x50.

I got a scatter save today that was almost 1.75 miles on a relatively straight and flat crowded highway. I was unable to see the shooter at the time as it was so far away. I began to think that it was a false alert from one of those fancy cars with their special lights...but to my amazement it was a legit threat. I have the detector mounted high too, which IIRC helps with radar but can hurt LIDAR. I've never had a detector do anything like that before although, like the OP, I found the 9500ix's laser detection to be pretty decent.
