    Default Wierd K Band Alert

So I'm driving today on a road that I am fairly familiar with ( travel several times a year to visit the in-laws) and I begin to pick up a steadly increasing K band alert in an area that I never have before, so I am thinking LEO. Now, this is a rural country, two lane state route with very sparce houses on farm land so little chance for interverance from anything. The signal started out with 1 light, slowly increased over 20 seconds or so with the front arrow lit up the enitre time. There was no one in front of me and only 1 or 2 cars that had passed me in the opposing direction with no change in signal, when all of a sudden I get full blast warning with the side arrows and the the rear...............and the quiet. There was nothing around me that I could see except for a few houses 1-2 at max. So I thinkin, "That was wierd," when all of a sudden another full K band blast from the front and thats when I notice a highway patrol car heading towards me in the opposing lane with the arrows and signal alerting as they normally would as he passes. So my question to you guys is what your opinions are as the source to the inital alert. As far as I could tell there was really nothing close enough to the road that would cause interference that would cause the V1 to false in that manner.

What manufacturer of cars around you? Could be blind spot assist available in some cars.

May have been a reflection causing the side and rear arrows to alert briefly.

I have a stationary K band school speed sign that is aimed directly at my traffic flow. Always repeatable, it will reflect off the back of a moderate size traffic info sign I pass and cause the V1 arrows to go side, rear and then finally back to the forward arrow as I approach the speed sign.

Yeah, I am wondering if it was some kind of reflection from the oncoming OSP cruiser all along. It was on a completely flat stretch of road and there were no oncoming cars at the time that I got alerts from all three directions. I am wondering to if there was something in the nearby houses that I was picking up, though the houses were fairly far off the road.

I had something similar happen when I had an Escort 8500 on a sporadic basis but in one area and for years we had no idea WTH it was. Turns out it was related to a meth lab. I mention that given you said you saw a few lone houses. My vote goes to this. The signal was uncharacteristically strong with a ramp-up similar to but not completely like IO. I don't know much about making meth otherwise or how radar is involved, but I have read about this phenomenon from others as well.

If not, as stated the K-band radar parking assist of many luxury models can do that as well. If someone by those houses were backing into their driveway, even if it was out of sight, it could be that.

If not, it was IO from a car that you would not expect to be a cop car...I've seen some weird ones and even some foreign cars.
