Laser from the rear multiple times?

Last night driving home I kept getting blasts from the rear for laser on the highway. It was raining so I know it will sometime false for that but usually only once. I noticed there was infinity behind me so I sped up and passed the car in front of me and the laser blasts quit. Does some of the new infinity’s have laser cruise control that will set my V1 off? Or do I need send this in for a tune up?

You guessed it. Laser guided cruise control is a very popular feature on Infinitis these days. The worse news is that the laser is always on, even if the cruise control is not enabled. Infinitis also use the laser for a feature called "Preview Braking". The car uses the laser to determine the closing rate to other vehicles. If the Infiniti determines that an accident is imminent, it preloads the brake lines to a higher pressure so that the brakes are more responsive when the driver applies them. Without looking it up, I'm pretty sure that's how it works. Either way, these cars are always emitting laser and it sucks.

Some of the newer Acura MDX also have the laser for accident avoidance if you are closing in too quickly on a target.

I've had my Laser Interceptor false a couple of times too because of these things.

I was just thinking.. umm... what happens if you jam the laser cruise control on the car behind you?

It would either be hilarious or incredibly dangerous.

All my rear false lasers are from Infiniti's.
