Any ideas what is going on with this?

I've seen a lot of this lately, and I am confused as to what is going on. Maybe someone "in the business" can give me some tips.

I see LEOs parked as if they were running a speed trap, yet they aren't using radar or laser (I see no laser gun being used and my V1 is silent while driving by).

It hasn't just been a couple times I have seen this.... Are they just looking for cars that LOOK to be driving fast? If they are going to just do this, that makes a RD useless.

watching for cell phone use or other reckless driving behavior. It isn't always about speeding.

When I do paper, I almost always park in a speed trap fashion with radar off. Unless I see someone trying to break the sound barrier, I won't hit you if I am doing paper.

Many police like to sneak off and take a nap once in their patrol cars while out on patrol.

But I know right now AV isn't one of them.

i guess it must be paper work, because there are plenty of cars going by and the radar never turns on. i do see them doing stuff on their computer so that must be it

If you are in NC it is a good guess they are using VASCAR Plus on you. Several I know use it in moving mode also. It is used a lot more than people think in this state.

Of course they will throw in the occasional laser, Golden Eagle and Stalker for good measure.

Also note that it is a free warning sometimes with another Leo just around the curve ahead. I've seen it many of times. It gives a driver a chance to correct their speed but many will floor the gas when they pass the sitting Leo just to get nailed a minute later.....
