    Default V1 California Settings

I've reprogrammed my V1 to only pick up California Highway Patrol. From what I've read they mainly use Ka band and lasers so I've turned off x and k bands. I've left the rest of the settings on. What are your thoughts or recommendations with these settings. The other day I was driving and the CHP was outside his car with his laser out and my V1 didn't detect it. Luckily I wasn't speeding at the moment.

Welcome. In SoFla LEOS exclusively uses KA band radar as well. But I keep K band on just to be on the safe side when I'm riding on the highway. What I would do is check the Radar Bands by Town Section of the forum to make sure they don't use K band around your area. If you are positive that K band isn't used, then your settings are perfect. However, you can program your V1 to automute on K band if you do need protection against K band from local cops. I programmed my V1 for 30 secs automute, stay muted on four lights at onset, stay muted on six lights, and mute rear k band radar. Good luck bro. The arrows and bogey counter will serve you well.

Laser scatter isn't too common to pick up, especially if you're in a pack of cars. Plus when traffic is relatively grouped up, he is probably just waiting and taking his shots at the lone wolves who are trying to pass everyone.
You'll only hit K band occasionally with local LEOs on the side streets.
You can play with Ka guard, but I suspect you'll leave it on if in the city. Other than that, it's set up fine.

Even if you are the only thing on the road, even if the LEO is aiming the laser at you, even if the LEO is looking into the laser while it is aimed at you, doesn't mean he is pulling the trigger

I'm in so cal and have also disabled X and K bands.

I usually don't look for LE if I'm at speed limit. In the last week I've had 2 instances where moto LE shot me with lidar. V1 went off and then I saw them shooting me from up ahead. if I had been going > 10 over limit it would have been too late.

but I've also seen many instances where LE (patrol car) had Ka on while shooting lidar.
