I read a lot about changing the factory settings (mostly sweep settings) and would like to know about the advantages/disadvantages in changing these settings. Are the sweep settings changes done for highway use better performance?
From what I read, there are several options regarding traffic flow monitors (deleting/activating them) but the "sweep" mods cause me a bit of confusion - do they widen the freq scan of different bands? According to the user manual, making such programing changes can affect sensitivity and warning time values.
So what are the advantages and disadvantages of changing these settings from their factory default settings?

I cannot speak to the sweeps because I am equally confused about those. However, I can speak to traffic flow monitors because I live in an area with them. If you running a V1 (or any detector) in an area with them, you would definitely know (full Ka blasts about every half mile). You can go here: S P E E D I N F O :: delivering data that knows your flow to see if you may be traveling to an area that has them. When this is on, K band POP is turned off. So if you don't live in an area with the sensors, you shouldn't turn it on.

My only other change is turning X band off. But that is to reduce the false alerts I was receiving. I wouldn't turn off bands on your daily commute or usual drive, until you are certain the areas that are alerting are not threats.
