sounds like it's doing the power-up sequence. Maybe your power plug is loose and when you hit a bump it jiggles it and re-powers up your unit.

like Buz said....: could be a loose powercord...causing the unit to restart the powerup sequence when your hitting bumps in the road.

What kind of a strange sound? The 3 lines mean Laser!

Is the "strange sound" a European siren "doo dee doo dee" type sound?

Three horizontal lines + arrow + doo dee sound = LASER.

If ALL the LEDs are lighting up and you're getting the power up sound (BEEP BRAP beep brap DOO DEE DOO DEE), then your detector is momentarily losing power due to a loose connection, either at the RJ11 plug on the detector or at the lighter plug or hardwire kit.
If I'm passing you on the right, YOU are in the wrong lane!

If speed kills, how come I'm still alive?

Now thats funny, poor guy is getting hit by laser and he does not even know it, maybe a laser false though. None the less funny. Dave still take the aware for being a dumbazz for ignoring a real laser hit.
