    Default False Laser readings

I have searched this forum for a solution and have seen some information yet I am still unclear if my V1 has a problem or not. In the past month I have had issues where the unit will detect a laser with the arrow pointing ahead. This can happen repeatedly and sometimes not at all. It's to the point where I can't even utilize it. It almost sounds as though the unit is resetting but that is not the case it's indicating a laser reading in front of the vehicle. This occurs in traffic congestion as well as in areas free from any other vehicles, etc.

I did check the website and I am available for a POP3 upgrade but have not researched enough about the necessity in my area. Do you think my V1 has a problem?

My apologies if this is a redundant topic.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

theres nothing wrong with ur V1 concerning laser. Its laser receiver is so sensitive it will alert to even the faintest glint of police laser it sees. However this big magnitude of sensitivity also means that it will also sense of forms of 904nm infrared light ( cars or SUV's that have LED brakelamps, or neon signs, or in extreme cases the sunlight itself. As for POP its not really much a big threat right now i wud still have it on hand tho so if you want to upgrade your V1 go ahead.

    Thanks Lidar

I have had the device for over 2 years and have NEVER had this type of sensitivity to laser. Many times there is not another vehicle around so I know it's not the lights of another vehicle or the sunset as it happens in very dark situations as well. I really suspect a problem and an intermittent one at that because sometimes I will power up and the device immediately goes berzerk on laser and I am sitting in a parking lot or my driveway. Other times it doesn't make a peep (or a beep) until there is some legit K or Ka radar in the area.

It's really driving me crazy because now I find myself turning the volume down and literally ignoring my V1. Not exactly being used as intended.

Call them and ask to speak with a tech. I had laser falsing issues before and they wanted me to send it in for repair.

Welcome to the board Jeff. Howdy may be correct. Do you see any type of signal with the alert? Or are you out BFE and get laser signals?

also your cars distributor system can also be a probable cause...I had the problem with my whistler where my distributor system( fires the spark plugs), the cap was loose and sent out a spark( not visible to the eyes) but my whistler saw this spark and kept alerting to laser even when there was nothing around...check it out...if all else fails take it to VR to have em look at it or replace it

Thanks for the great input guys. I think at this point I am going to call and ultimately send it in, perhaps get the upgrade at the same time as having it looked at. Tonight the V1 literally alerted 80% of the time, in traffic with no cars around, etc.

I have an 05 Toyota Tundra so I don't suspect there is an issue with seeing sparks in the distributor cap.

The fact that this started happening only a short while ago is what makes me believe there is a problem. This board is awesome!!! Thanks again.

As much as I hate to say it Jeff, it sounds like that's the best idea man.

Do you have another car you can test the V1 in? If it happens in another car, then it's the V1. If it doesn't, then it something electrical in your car.

Is the V1 hardwired in or plugged into the lighter socket? Sometimes hooking into a different circuit will help.

If you are using the cigarette lighter socket, are you sharing the power with anything else; do you have a splitter?
