I just got mine last week also. I have been using it everyday and to be honest i am not that happy with the range. I have been getting quite a few falses but I really like the auto mute feature because the falses go quiet. I had one alert go off but the leo was very close to me and I was pretty dissapointed. I think I had read someone say that you could send it in and whistler would run some tests and make sure that it was up to the standards. If anyone has any info on that I would like to hear from you.
Falses are a part of the Whistler's performance. They choose to have it alert first, then filter after that. Provides quicker reaction time. Most of my false alerts last no more than 2-3 beeps.
As far as range, you might have a bad unit, though that's unusual with this company. I get PLENTY of range on mine...over 3 miles on one hit. LEO could have hit you with Instant On, too...you won't get a reading until it's too late, then.
