1793SE or XTR-500 ebay?

So I'm trying to decide which of these two would be a better buy.

From what I've read performance will be about the same correct?

Has anyone tried the XTR-500 since it just came out?

Which would you choose?


Also I was wondering if Whistler (Unlike Bel and Escort) honors their warranty if you buy a new unit off ebay. I can get the 1793SE for $87 shipped and the XTR-500 for $87 shiped as well.

Any opinions?? From what I have read Whistlers don't seem to have too many problems so that is why I have decided to buy from them.

I was just looking for some input onthe xtr-500 since no one has really mentioned it (I have searched).

Trust me any advice would be great.

The reason I am looking to get a detector at a low price is because my mother does not want me to have one and has threatened to take it away if I get one, but I feel that it really is neccesary in the town I live in. Therefore I don't want to spend a lot on a detector that might get confiscated.

Also any advice to convice my mother would be great! :P lol
