Recent tests in arizona... which test are these? Is it the unpublished SML stuff?

I really want to believe the results, but I would like to know testing methods, who tested it, etc.

I recall reading this a bit back. It was indeed quite an impressive show by Whistler

Professor, since you were there in person... what did you think about the forward-facing worst case radar run?

The numbers looked low, but do you think that it was a satisfactory detection range?

yeah, 1 mile = 5280 feet so by the look of the chart V1 is on top with around 1200 ft which is not even a quarter a mile!!!!

i am not sure i am gonna get enough warning with any of the radar detectors .........

am i reading the results in a wrong way??

Yeah, kind of wrong. The radar is facing forward, so it is extremely difficult to detect. It also means the officer cannot clock you until you are in front of him, so 0 ft detection would mean you're TOAST.

You'd want to have enough time to shave a few MPH off your speed as soon as the detector goes off, before you reach the officer.

It was pretty tough for the detectors. But, we did some informal testing where the test vehicle tried to hit the brakes when the detector alerted. I believe he was actually able to come to bring the vehicle from 50 MPH to a complete stop before passing the officer. So, shaving off some speed to get to PSL shouldn't be too difficult.

If the officer was using instant-on in this scenario, that might be another matter. In that case, you would hope that the officer hits someone ahead and that the vehicle he hits is large enough to send a nice radar reflection back to your detector

Remember guys that in the real world cars would be getting clock after they pass the officer and he can target them from the rear so there would be reflections to depend on which would give every RD an advantage. Our test was WORST case. Every RD tested at our GOL test would do better in the real world under this scenario
