    Default Whistler 3000?

I just bought a Whistler 3000 remote radar detector off of ebay for a few dollars. I have search the internet looking for reviews but I can not find anything on this model. Does anyone know anything about the Whistler 3000?

Be careful about using it, I believe they were manufactured in the early 90's and the Ka they speak of on the package is NOT superwideband, it is only wideband. I owned one at one point and it took me forever to find out anything.

Ya you will get owned in Texas by Ka. Especially State troopers
there very selective with thier Stalker's dual radar 34.7 If it were me I would get a pro 78 or 690. I have had 3-4 mile saves on Ka with my 78

I have a Pro-78 and I love my Pro-78. However, I find it difficult to believe a three to four mile save. Even if one tested at a range of three to four miles on a flat straight section of highway, I would find it hard to believe that detection range. Maybe you are right. I wouldn't know based on my experiences with Ka.

Most of the time I have detected Ka, the cop has been on the other side of a hill and hitting people with instant on. In these cases I did not receive an alert until I was at least half way up the hill. The only case where the Ka was transmitting continuously and there was a very slight "hill" in between me and the cop gave me a range of about a mile.

If cops aren't selectively targeting, over a wide/open area, it's totally possible. It helps more to have another detector alerting to the cop in your vincinity, which most often leaks Ka too!
