For IO the Whistlers show the signal at the strength received, and it disappears after like 2 seconds of hold time, during which the signal strength stays at the level it was received at (i.e. you'll get 5 bars, then all 5 bars disappear at once, no artificial ramp-down)
If the first signal received is at strength 9, the detector will display Ka PULSE and sound a unique PULSE voice, plus an extremely rapid repeat of the normal Ka tone for a few seconds, then revert back to the traditional signal bar for as long as the signal persists.
