Dual threat encounter on a Pro78

I was driving on I5 in the Portland today. As I came a round a curve, I encountered a constant on Ka band alert that started 1.5 miles from the source that slowly ramped up. At 1/2 mile from the KA source the same LEO was using IO laser. The Pro78 handled it very well. I have never encountered this strategy before if it was that. It could he for got to turn off his radar gun while using the laser. No other LEO was in the area at the time.

A wild guess...

I suspect that the LEO had his radar gun set to indicate the speed of the fastest target regardless of its signal intensity. Then the LEO could simply use his lidar to nail the target suspect vehicle once the target got within laser range. Thus, "poof," radar tracking history plus a lidar confirmation shot too. I bet that would stick six ways from Sunday in court!
