    Default Question on Pro 78

When I plug the power cord into the 78 it comes on right away without touching the power button. I was using a XTR 560 before and it didn't turn on till you used the power button. Do all the 78's work this way? It does it even though it is turned off before unplugging it.

My Pro 73 is the same way. I believe it "remembers" the last state it was in (IE on) and since I have mine turn off when I turn off my car, it automatically turns on when I turn my car on. Now if you press the power button and turn it off before pulling the power to the RD it will be off when you plug in/supply power to the RD again.

I never turn mine off, I let it shut off as I turn off the ingnition. But when I start the car again, it automatically turns on and goes through the start up sequence.

This is one feature which I noticed when testing the Pro78 sent to me by our amazing Michael Batten of Whistler. I too found that my Pro78, regardless of whether or not you had powered it off before unplugging it, the Pro78 automatically powers on once 12V is applied to its power cord.

I guess the logic is, once power is plugged into the Pro78, then no matter what it should power up. That way you can never possibly forget to power it on when you start your car and begin driving. This would seem to work great for the average consumer, and works great if you decide to hardwire your Pro78 with a power toggle switch. Once you throw the toggle switch to the "ON" position, then your Pro78 will power up no matter what.

Thanks for the information. I would prefer to turn it on but I can see their logic.
