    Default Veil g4 & xtr-695

After quite a lot of thinking, I'm going to buy some Veil G4 and not an overly priced/expensive laser jammer. I highly feel with the R.D. alerting me of laser and the VEIL absorbing the laser, this is a good enough combination to greatly reduce speeding tickets with laser.

    What does everybody else think?

I'm still going with my decision to buy it, just curious to see what you may believe.

I think you're setting yourself up for failure. Veil is a great product. Veil turned my marginal ZR4s into a JTG machine, which is pretty amazing. But without any jammers on, readings are instantaneous in my experience, on my car, just like they were without Veil and my car is heavily Veiled.

I think you are confused as to what Veil does. Veil is not an IR light sponge. What Veil does, if say it's applied to a headlight, Veil keeps the IR light from penetrating through to the highly reflective surfaces that are the mirrors behind the headlamp, which then reduces the amount of IR light return to the lidar gun.

Even on my heavily Veiled car, there is still plenty of IR return from the painted surfaces and the Veiled surfaces of my car for instantaneous lidar readings, anywhere under about 1500ft for me. Unless your car has a very, very small lidar return to begin with, from what I've seen in my testing, Veil, by itself, has no noticable effect. When combined with even the cheapest of laser jammers, in my case the ZR4s, Veil makes for amazingly positive results.

x2, Very well said by DJ.

G4 and your Whistler just means one thing: A laser ticket.

You need a jammer and thats the bottom line against laser, however, don't sell G4 short, because as DJ said, veil is in fact a great product and can turn a moderate jammer (such as the ZR4) into a real performer.

(Oh and just so Jag doesn't cry: This would apply with ANY RD, not just your specific Whistler.)

Hm, I've thought about what you said today during work and suppose you're right. I'll put the $440 or whatever into a ZR4. It'll take a couple months to save. Is it hard to install?

I have no idea what kind of car you have, so it's tough to say. The key to any laser jammer install is to get the sensors properly positioned, perfectly straight and absolutely level. If you do all that, your ZR4s are properly installed. Then, add Veil to your setup and your ZR4s should perform very well.

That should be a pretty easy car to protect. I think the ZR4s + Veil will do fine. The mounting locations are not ideal, but i'd put the sensors in either the red or the green spots.
