    Default XTR-695 delayed band ID?

I had an interesting experience this morning. I live in such a small town that I NEVER get false alerts. As I was traveling along my usual route to work this morning, my XTR 695 alerted: "Blurp...Ka band.....Blurp" ....then all alerts disappeared. I looked at the display after the first beep, and found there wasn't any band ID displayed during this short alert at all.

I continued on, and perhaps another quarter mile down the road or so, my RD alerted full bars, I saw the trooper in the median, and then I looked at the display.....this time it had 35.5 displayed.

Now, I'm just wondering, was this just an unusual occurance, or does the XTR-695 have to sit and "think" for a bit before it decides which band it is alerting to? Has anyone else had this experience?

    Safe travels all....

When the frequency isn't within a reasonable tolerance from 33.8, 34.7, 35.5, and other notable Ka frequencies, it just shows on the screen as "Ka".

It could be just transient noise or weak signal caused the XTR-695 to not recognize the correct frequency at first, or the first Ka alert could've been pure coincidence from a false source.

Perhaps the first whiff the 695 was so weak it didn't want to ID the band? There weren't any cars any where near close enough to me to have a cobra false alert.

I can only presume it did get a whiff of the trooper triggering an I/O burst, but it didn't get enough of a whiff to ID the first alert that came through.

BTW, it was an impressive alert for 35.5 band, which is the
prevalent band around here and in my experience, has been notoriously hard to detect early.

My theory is maybe you encountered a Leaky RD on the road from another car then the Ka 35.5 alert ! Whistler will never miss a I/0 shot ! 35.5 is very hard to detect. I only got .7 miles of 35.5 this morning Whistler is one of the fastest RD'S on the market to respond and process radar !

I recently had a very similar alert, first off alerted to Ka band coming around a long curve. The inital alert was more than 30 degrees off oaxis to the detector, after a short period of time it alerted to Ka 35.5. I was surprised to see an LEO running CO at 35.5. Never the less, I had plenty of warning if I would have needed to slow down

Yea happens a lot for me too, I think it's got to be the signal strength or off-frequency when first detected
