PS - We've got an XTR-695 on the way. Should be here by midweek to become a permanent fixture in the wife's car.

Any Whistler is very good at detecting I/0 and distant I/0.. Look at my many videos of the Pro 78 at my link below on youtube. Whistler is one of the fastest in the industry.

Well if he hit us with I/O, the XTR-140 didn't catch it.

Believe me if your were hit with I/0 you will know especially if it was 1/4 mile away. Even if he used the quick-trigger method on you should have recieved a I/0 hit even a few Ka blips. I'm sure he was shooting selective I/0 or just sitting there to slow down traffic. CHP has Ka 34.7 Stalker and its easily detected.

It can, but since it is an older detector perhaps you were shot off axis and because of that it didn't see it.

i have had several pickups of i/o ka band from state troopers in texas. the xtr140 did not miss a beat and accurately detected it every time.

the biggest difference i noticed when i switched to my pro 78 was the k band filtering. the xtr140 would alert full strength k band when across from a walgreens, where as the pro 78 would give 1 bar alert.

my girlfriend prefers the xtr140 because the volume can be set very low, where as teh pro 78 is pretty loud at the 1 volume setting

My XTR-140 occasionally had problems with I/O, especially off angle - Ka band in general was iffy off angle but excellent head on. K band on this detector was comparable to higher end models. It may have just been that the LEO didn't have his radar on at the time.

Good to know. He prob didn't have his radar on, otherwise he prob would have pulled us over.

On a side note, I got a nice pickup with the 140 on C/O K band this morning. Manhattan Beach PD cruiser parked in a Taco Bell driveway hitting people going in the opposite direction. I'm a bit surprised that a small and rich city like MB is still using K-band. Good to know though, I was considering turning off K band on my wife's 695 due to annoying falses from supermarkets.

Oh well, listening to her complaining is better than a ticket.

Yep, like I said the XTR-140 does just fine on K band (and X). I see K band all the time in Florida so definitely not disabling it any time soon!
