It's interesting how the XTR 695 missed 2 out of 3 in 1/4 mile over the hill I/O Ka tests at the 2008 Speed Measurement Labs tests. Are they a bunch of clowns also?

Um, I was one those geeks that performed the test. So, for me, it was not just some guys on the internet. I was like, there is no way I could trust that RD to protect me when it performs this poorly. There is a reason why it costs way less then the big dogs. I'm not saying it doesn't work for most cases, or work fine for you, I'm saying that after seeing it perform that poorly in person, I couldn't trust it for the speeds I travel. To be honest with you guys, I had also bought into the hype of Rev C, so when I saw it in person, I was highly disappointed in its performance.
1. The radar guns used at GOL are wrapped in radar foam
2. Happy'S PRO 78 was lacking db's on 34.7 (104 vs 108-109) Sure it was sent in before to Mike b. He probably juiced it down to fool other RD manufactures and GOL. (under rating it like always cause the real tests are in the real world.
3. Notice how Whistler doesn't support GOL on there tests or on there site.
They're wrapped in foam for every RD. The playing field is even.
Please!? That's a lame excuse. Do you really think Michael B intentionally detuned happya$$'s Whistler?
Why not? GOL tests are the most unbiased source of info anywhere. I guess the truth hurts.
I own a Pro 78, and even though I don't own a V1 or another high end detector, I would say that the V1 is better, but you do have to pay for it. Pro 78 = $130, V1 New = $500.
I would say that the Pro 78 against Ka way off axis is not good. I could be sitting at an intersection and there is a PD heading, say west, and I am heading North, and i go to make a right turn, then it will start to detect the Ka. I am not sure what Ghz of Ka it is though, could be 35.5. But you can't clock someone at a 90 degree angle, so that really doesn't matter.
Since you have a higher end detector, i hope it doesn't make you drive faster and faster over the speed limit because it can detect farther. Maybe you don't do 25+ over but, with that car you have, I don't know. I would trust the Whistler for going 10-15 over. That is my two cents.
Ummm....... I owned a Pro 78 rev.c for three weeks. It might be OK for the flatlands, but there is no way I'd put my faith in one here in the N.E. My old 985 ate it for breakfast. Too many close calls for me. (34.7 AND 35.5) Don't hate me for my opinion.
This forum is about keeping it real. If someone comes in saying that the ZR4s are better than the LIs, we'll set him straight too.
The usable RD performance chain goes like this:
1. Belscort remotes
2. V1
3. STi 9500i(x)
4. The rest of the Belscort M4s
5. Whistler
It is what it is.
