Default XTR-695 false full strength Ka alerts

I've been getting a few sudden Ka alerts on my XTR-695. It will suddenly alert at full or near full strength for 2-3 seconds, then stop. No RSID indicator and no LEOs in sight. Could this be interference from other RDs?

It's running in the Filter mode with POP off. I'm thinking the Filter 2 mode should put a stop to the falses, but I'm scared I'll end up missing quick trigger I/O and POP shots.

Does the guy in the vid know pop and i/o are two distinct and different things?

Yeah, he incorrectly uses them interchangeably. Towards the end of the vid, he mentions that it is in fact POP. If it was I/O, the speed would be locked in the screen on the right. Check out his other vids though, he pulls people over after POPing them without locking their speed.

I have the new Pro 78Se and was getting that also driving around in filter mode. Changed to Filter 1 and Filter 2 and drove by the area causing it and it cleared up the problem. As far as missing I/O shots I cant say but I did some testing against a 34.7 speed trailer and did not lose any detection distance in Filter 1 or 2 compared to Filter mode. All 3 filter modes alerted at the same time against the 34.7 source.

Actually he is using I/O and NOT POP as the radar he is using does not have POP on it. Only the MPH units have POP and this is a Stalker unit. He IS using I/O quick triggering which is legal and is not POP, he just got them confused is all.

Filter 1 should block out 99.9% of all junk RDs without you missing any I/O shots.

He doesn't need to get a lock on the speed?

Nope he does not have to lock the speed in, locking the speed is just good for mainly showing the person if they want to look at it which is completely up to the LEO and he doesn't have to show you.

So why would faint Ka signals alert as full strength?
