mine had problems out of the box, which mike B immediately told me to send it in, which was close to a year ago. i still havent sent it in, mostly because im lazy and still "satisfied" with performance

i noticed from your other post your probably not happy with your 78, and my advice would be to send it in to mike as he is a whistler rep and does great work.

if you are not satisfied with your unit you might be expecting too much from it. thinking that every PD unit you pick up is giving you a great signal and you should get a 1 mile range is not accurate. every situation is different

that being said expecting 1 mile detection every time is something no unit will guarantee.

if you are looking for the very best range out of the box you should look at a v1. its great for your habitual speeders on a mission to get everywhere as fast as possible, but its also going to give you great detection of every CVS and walgreens you pass on the road, and where i live they are on every corner.

i have had friends with x50's and they love them, they do get better range than the pro 78, but from my experience riding with them in their vehicles, they also go off 3x as much as my unit. one of my friends is on his third x50 because they all stopped working after a year or so. not every unit is like this, but its also good to know you have the best warranty in the business to back you if something ever happens with the whistler

so i guess ill get to my point, expecting a pro 78 to be the end all of detectors when it is a budget detector can give people the wrong impression of the unit. the pro 78 is very "hyped" on this board because it is so cheap and has alot of features. Whistler has the best filtering of K band falses of any other unit on the market, something i need everyday.

there 3 year warranty with an excellent customer service rep and bottom dollar price is why this section has been buzzing.

if you do, or have had any problems with your unit feel free to post them up! my unit resets itself weekly, and sometimes even several times daily. thats my biggest gripe

I am happy with it when I consider how much I paid for it and the performance it gives me

i think he is from Australia, they use some kinda weirdo radar called multinova system and no detector performs very well as per number of you-tube videos i have seen.

I am happy with my pro 78se also. It packs alot of features and 3 yrs warranty in a unit that performs well overall at less than 1/2 the cost of my V1.

It comes down to this: Under YOUR driving conditions does your RD give you enough time to slow down avoid a ticket? If the answer is yes than your RD has served its purpose
