I would go w/ the Pro 78. It has a nice bright display for bright days, and automatically dims for night. Brighter display than the 695. Of course, no offense to the 695.

Question to a moderator of this thread....(and before anyone else clicks the thread rating button)...why is this great informational thread rated at 1 out of 5? And who is doing the sudden persistent daily bulk low rating of many threads at this forum?

I see that a rating of 1 is defined as "terrible", and I question the reasoning, motives, judgment, perhaps sobriety, of any member who rates this thread as terrible. A person is on a budget and asked a very reasonable question, was provided with an excellent recommendation given his budget, was provided a bunch of personal information on experiences with devices on his short list, including weaknesses, and strengths, which any reasonable person in the market for those detectors would want to know. And all those contributions reflect the great spirit of this forum; that is, radar detector enthusiasts helping people less experienced (but wanting to grow in knowledge)...and want to help this forum grow...and perhaps even encourage business for the sponsor and owner of this place.

It won't take a genius for a moderator to figure this out, as the voting is recorded, and there are so many low ratings lately that there's surely going to be a pattern.

I believe there is mass sabotage by either a trolling loser......or someone who should know better. This forum is great, and there are so many excellent contributions by RD enthusiasts who really know their stuff. And when a thread like this (and others like it) get rated a 1, there's something that isn't passing the smell-test.

Whoever is doing it should be banned, or warned, or at least flicked on the forehead and their beer-drinking privileges revoked for a couple months.

Perhaps a mod can move this post to a new thread (maybe even start a poll) so the OP's thread doesn't get hijacked.

Yep...and I think we all know who is doing this. It's funny what people will do to push their agendas....but scary when you think of their perceived "influence" around here. It's not only on the Whistler subforum...look at all of Jag's recent video's showing how the Whistlers perform and you will see the same thing.

Staying on topic. ProudNMAmember is correct. They are both great detectors. The 78SE is more sensitive on KA and has a better\brighter display. I am still fond of my 695 though...the display can be great, (I like having the ability to change the colors for different threats), if placed in the correct spot and out of the sun.

Yeah, and you'd be completely wrong! It's not me that's doing this, but it's certainly normal for you to take backhanded shots at me, unfounded as usual. I actually started a thread a week ago in the Moderator section asking who's doing this, but I haven't gotten an answer.

It would be OK if BOTH members of the posse owns\uses a Whistler and had something to contribute instead of derailing another Whistler thread.
