If that's the case, then we might as well get a set of the new XTR 693SE outer shell (casing) to repackage our old 690 units.
Think of it more as a "re-branding" effort?

I wouldn't run tests off of Speed signs because some are very weak and have limited range and some can run off solar power. You can test Ka by plugging in all the Whistlers on at the same time. or trigger the power cord in and out to make another Whistler respond to some Quick trigger or I/O.
Agreed, I just wanted to document what I encountered even though it wasn't much :) The range wasn't bad as the sign was forward facing. I expect the KA performance on the 693SE to be similar to my 78SE.
Regular Wal-Mart or superstore?
I have one down by my college and one in my hometown I might check out this weekend... just to see if they are in stock... I'm still waiting for another Whistler to come out!
Superstore here. I am tempted to drive to the three other Wal-Marts close by to see if it is some sort of marketing test like Jag suggested. I am surprised that others aren't seeing them in their stores.
One other thing has me stumped...the price. It was $150.00 even...I can't remember the last time I saw an even number like that in Wal-Mart..they always have prices like $149.99 to make you think things are cheaper. Also, their Whistler prices are normally a lot higher than you can get elsewhere...I think I paid $197.49 for my XTR-695 when I could have purchased one online for $140.00 - $150.00. Not sure what to think.
In my previous retail experience our computers priced products in a certain way. For instance $14.99 would be a regular price. $14.00 is a sale price. $14.97 means its about to be discontinued. Most stores seem to have pretty much the same software.
If anyone needs to find my Wal-Mart to purchase the 693SE follow for this person:
