    Default RLC-100 @ walmart for $50

I guess this is the right spot to put this. Sarasota is getting redlight cameras this would be a good time for the locals to get the RLC-100 @ walmart for $50. I stopped in the Cattleman store today and next to the crapras was some red tagged RLC-100's @ $50 from $99

I grabbed the last one yesterday from the only Walmart I know of in OKC that sells Whistlers, for $50 too. It is a RLC-100T. Comes with 2yr data update. No cameras in my area but I will definately take it next time I travel to TX. It's a pretty cool unit for $50. If I'm not mistaken, someone on here said they found one for $20. I guess we weren't that lucky... That would be a true score!

Yeah that was me. Marked down from $99 to $20. Unfortunately it was the only one in that store.

For any of you that just purchased a RLC-100 make sure you get the firmware update download.
The firmware update includes 3 new options
    1. Seatbelt warning OFF option at power on.
    2. Three alert radius options: 200 or 400 or 600 yards
    3. Display brightness option: bright or dim

This RLC-100 little bugger IMO is way under rated and possibly one of the best kept secrets out there.
The RLC-100 has many many features and it gets GPS lock in under a minute IN MY GARAGE no less...usually within seconds. Really loud adjustable audio alerts also.

In addition to RLC alerts, i use it primarily for:
-Accurate digital speedometer function which reverts to a clock when vehicle stops.
-Custom marking (hard to see) rural roads off the main highway which i used to typically overshoot at night, foggy weather or day dreaming.
-Custom mark known deer crossings and other hazarous areas.
-Custom mark reduced speed limits when entering a small one-horse town notorious for speed traps.

My thoughts exactly, and I have the same additional uses for it too where I live.

You guys are lucky anyway - none of my local Walmarts have Whistler-anything, even the cobras were severely picked over.

I see you have a BCT-7 scanner, what do you listen in on with this? Because I know SRQ Sheriffs use APCO-25 digital trunking and FHP are completely encrypted. I can only get Bradenton Cops with my analog 800mhz trunking scanner.

Well, out of about 30 Walmart stores in OKC, I found ONE that sells Whistler products. The rest sell Crapra or nothing at all. I told the clerk that I was very glad to see Whistler and her response was "I don't know why... Everyone else wants to see Cobra". I told her they were all crazy and she just looked at me.

I'd rather see them carry nothing at all as opposed to CRAPRA. I truly don't understand why Whistlers aren't sold in more stores...... Anyone???

HAM radio, fast food drive throughs, WX Police are still using the 154-155 range occasionally for speed traps, FRS/GMRS, Security guards, Fire/EMS tone outs, 800 is full of traffic you would be surprised how many people are still using conventional frequencies, I got my handheld digi for apco although it was a waste of money as I never get any useful info from and never use it in the auto but it is still fun to listen to

I've got 3 WallyWorlds within a days drive.
One has got tons of Cobras hanging on the shelf, any and all models. Not a Whistler in sight.

The second one has a handful of Whistlers and a ton of you geussed it, Cobras.

The third one where i visit most and where i got the $20 RLC-100 has Whistlers displayed for a couple months then they take them off the shelf for a couple months repeating this cycle. Yet the Cobras are there all the time. Makes no sense.
In the years i've been going to this store, i've never seen a RLC-100 actually hanging on the shelf. The more i think on it, someone made a mistake marking it down to $20. Only reason i can think of why they couldn't sell it is because there are no RLC's in this particular city.

Why Cobras sell is probably name recognition and the word 'Cobra' sounds more bad-a$$ than 'Whistler'? lol.
