    Default Another 3600 q

Can you only adjust the volume from the little detached speaker?

Not quite, I read the manual and if you have the optional GPS unit, the auto quiet function can be set with a certain speed and that will lower your volume. But without GPS, your right.

I have GPS and yes there is a speed auto quiet. But I think the OP was referring to the overall volume of the alerts....That is what I gathered anyway.

Yes, I was referring to the overall volume of alerts, so basically you will need to have the speaker accessible then.

Yes and no, If you wand to adjust it daily, weekly, or during an alert then yes.

If you use auto quiet, just set it and forget it as there is no need to make any additional adjustments.

If you use the GPS module, set the AQSPD to 40 or so and when travelling below 40 the unit will automatically provide low volume but if above 40 will provide the louder volume selected with the volume wheel.

At any time durind an alert, you can press the quiet button to silence the audio.
