Excellent point and yes I did worry about that when leading packs. I had a couple Ka encounters briefly that were weak and didn't register the the frequency. Of course I worried they were i/o encounters and drove PSL for a minute until I was passed by other cars and then sped back up while watching for brake lights on the cars ahead of me. I worried about POP too, but kept it off.

Pretty sure I'll step up to a Redline someday.

These were most likely false alerts. The Whistler SEs are known for a high number of Ka band false alerts. Out on the open highway, they are fairly infrequent, but when you get back to LA, they will dramatic increase in frequency.

Of course I worried they were i/o encounters and drove PSL for a minute until I was passed by other cars and then sped back up while watching for brake lights on the cars ahead of me.

Out there, in the middle of the desert, a minute is not a long enough time to rule out a LEO as the source of that alert, due to how far radar travels in that area.

I worried about POP too, but kept it off.

CHP doesn't own any pop-capable radar guns and neither does Arizona DPS, as far as I know.

I think you said you live in LA. If so, the RedLine probably isn't the best choice, because it is so sensitive, K band false alerts are very frequent. I'd recommend a GPS based radar detector from Bel or Escort to deal with the K band false alerts. That and a laser jammer, since laser has become rampant in LA.

Four encounters on my return trip with the XTR-693se. All 34.7 Ka CHP between Blythe and Indio. Plenty of notification. I turned X and K off to keep it quiet. I am very satisfied with the range for what I use it for, which is only this route.
