    Default Whistler Customer Service

    Hi,

spring is here and summer is coming, and that's driving gets a lot more fun... especially when you can roll down the windows etc. Anyways, with some of the recent incodents with my detector turning off randomly etc., I was thinking of sending it in for warranty service just to make sure everything is working well. I went to www.whistlergroup.com and checked out the part of their site that talks about the warranty service. It said I needed a copy of the in store receit, and... I bought it online. What do I do? I don't have an in store receit, so is there some warranty card I need to send with it?

    Thanks

Are you sure all your connections are tight (especially if your RD is hardwired... that is where I would start first)... it could be something as simple as a loose connection, and that would sure stink to send in a unit for that.

Maybe even try it in another car.

    How often does this happen?

Does it happen (moreso) when you hit bumps... or when you roll down the windows at cruising speeds (where the RD is getting jostled by the wind)?

Is it still giving its normal performance (on falses and LEO sources), when it is on?

Anycase I really dont know much about the Whistler return policy, but I am sure someone does and will chip in here... but I would rule out anything simple before sending the unit back in.

    hey,

no, it's not turning off when I hit bumps, but when it gets cold. And, I thought that I noticed a possible performance decrease when I passed two cops (both were driving) and didn't get much warning at all. But, as it was said in another thread, it may not be mobile radar, but just a stationary gun in stand-by mode.

Being one that has use whistler customer service quite a few times this is how it goes. Very simple just print a copy of your confimation of order paper when you made the purchase online for the radar detector. Or get the order paper that came with the radar detector when it was ship to you. Just send both or one or the other. Whistler customer service really doesnt care. As long as their some form of proof you bought the thing under your name. Also write a letter to whistler explaning what the problem with the detector is ask them to do a check on it as well to ensure its working correctly and put your phone number on the letter as well. Put that letter in the box your shipping the rd in. Also insure the pacakge for 200 dollars. this will let the post office know you are serious and want it to get there very carefully. If they break it during shipping well you have money to buy a new radar detector then. Get a return receipt as well. Make sure you layer the rd in newspaper for cushion. Have them ship the detector at just the standard shipping rate. Not overnight or anything. Whistler will then mail the pacakge back ups or usps. Depends sometimes. Wants you see how great whistler customer service is you will be affraid to deal with any other then whistler. Yes their that good.
