O ya got to love it.

I'm trying to get Escort to add a SpecExpert mode display. Looks like they may do something in this direction at some point. Most likely like speed alert on the 9500ix.
They should make it display the frequency if there's only one signal being detected, and expert meter only if there is more than one signal.

With Expert meter I can tell at a glance which bands have how many signals.

I c an't wait for Escort to put togeather Spec and Expertmeter (Spec mode on a single, automatically switching to Expert Meter on "Multiple Signals detected".
As long as you are satisfied and know what works well for you is the most important thing - escort or V1. I surely miss the spec mode though.

    That's what I'm using.

    A 965

Or I guess older used Bel off the internet.
Cheapest belscort w/expert meter is the 8500. The 965 is just a 955 that was packaged with a carrying case. The cheapest bel with threat mode would be the RX65.
    Yup, whoops!

New, the Bel 995 and the X50 run neck and neck in price.

An old used (but functioning correctly) Bel 985 would be a great option on the cheap and still very sensitive to all radar bands, but hard to come by and does have "threat mode" but not the expert meter.

Was used to the bogey counter on the V1, so I always ran my 9500i/ix in Expert mode. Seemed like the standard mode used up too much real estate for what it did. The audio provides enough information about signal strength, it's the count I wanna see (with varying strength).

I never could get into Spec mode. I guess I never really thought in terms of the frequencies, kind of wish I did sometimes though.

Expert meter as a visual guide is not as useful as advertise, but good nonetheless. Now, the SpecMeter is the Sh1t. With just a glimpse I know the frequency of the emiting equipment combined with understanding the language/sound consistency and intensity of the each beep if a threat is real and it's location in relation to my vehicle. As much as I loved the convenience of having directional arrows, I'll take specmeter any day.

Sometimes I think there's more to be made from collaborations, I can't fathom the crazy sh1t that would come out Valentine and Belscort joining efforts. I'd gladly pay very serious money for a gizmo with both arrows/specmeter, GPS(Speed traps/Etc.) and integradable LIDAR jammers with the likes of Laser Interceptor or Blinder M45.

If you're talking about the V1, Ka band is not prioritized. The strongest signal is what gets priority on a V1.

    Exactly.

That's why i believe the Escort way of prioritizing and simplifying Expert mode weeds out the ghosting and other rubbish enough to do its job well with less confusion. But i do like the V1's way of notification .

I run SPEC mode mostly as it's easy to identify Ka falses.......and.....if you keep an eye on it, it's also somewhat effective at identifying a 2nd source if the frequency shifts. This is the main reason I returned my 9500ix in exchange for the older 9500i model...........in spec mode under 20mph there are no audio alerts on the 9500ix (after the initial alert) and you can't tell anything about signal strength. I like to know at all times if the LEO is closing in or moving away from my location!

I followed a sheriff for several miles one day and kept seeing a momentary frequency shift going under bridges or passing large signs............when I pulled up next to him at a light I found out why........he had one of the new DSR 2X units with both front and back antennas running simultaneously!

Expert is also a good choice and I like running in this mode mainly in town where the LEOs tend to congregate and cross paths on patrol.

Does ANYONE run standard alerts these days .

Yes and no. Ka has priority until the K threat breaks the set threshold of warning proximity similar to the programmed options of filtering K band alerts.

Feel free to chime in professor or others that are "in the know" if this is incorrect.
