Default what is the best radar?

I am looking for a new radar around the price range of $100, I dont care if it goes a little over. What is the best detector for that price range? I've been looking at some whistler's and cobra's but I don't know which way to go. Thanks for the help!

    $100 RD?

Your going to be giving up quite a bit of performance for that low of a price IMO.

Welcome to our most excellent site.

Thank you! And I'm willing to spend around 200, just depends if its worth it. I know that the top detectors are up there around 400 or 500. I'm only 17, so I don't want to drop that much money.

Bel RX-65 refurb on eBay. They are sold by the maker, carry a warranty, and are arguably the best performer for the price. They go for about $200. If you are on a big budget, go for the Escort Passport 8500 (NON-X50) which can also be purchased as a refurb from the maker for about $140. Whistler makes a few decent entry models but I do not know enough about them to say too much, but I can say first hand the 8500 and RX-65 are splendid units on todays market.

I got a V1 when I started driving followed by a 9500ix. Getting a good detector is worth it, even though you're 17! IMO, a good detector counts just as much at 17, if not more! From my experience, lots of my friends drove fast *without detectors* in high school and got busted as a result. Expensive ass tickets! My point is that any age is appropriate for a detector. Just keep in mind, it's not a license to speed, but a great investment for any sensible driver.

I agree with Vanman! Tests show that both the 8500 and RX65 refurbs are great performers for the money.

If you can exceed your budget, check out the v1 factory returned for $359. If not, Vanman's choices are great!

Thanks for all the pOsts. I am thinking about the v1, my dad has one for his 2009m3 and the arrows are just amazing. For that 350 price range is there any better detector than the v1?

No, nothing is better in that range ($350) than the V1
