    Default Return for Repair ?

Has anyone aver returned their V1 to Valentine for plakn old "repairs" rather than an upgrade once it is out of the warranty period ?

I see it's an automatic $45 charge to return a unit for diagnosis/repair.

I wondered if they keep jacking up the repair price to the level of a new unit, or are they fair and only charge the minimum required to repair the unit.

How about it.... any experiences ?

    Thanks, Tim

I took that as a flat repair fee of $45. Bel charges $85......

Yes... you may be right.... The Valentine site states that for any "Modified or Abused" units the unti is repaired and you would be notified if the cost exceeds $45.00.

It's a little unclear... but I guess you can assume it IS a flat fee of $45 UNLESS it's abused or modified.

Thanks.... (anyone ever had to send theirs back for repairs ?)

I have sent my 1.8 back 3 times to VR.
    Bought July '01
1st repair May '02 No charge. Under warranty. New receiver unit.
2nd repair Aug '02 Random Laser falsing. No charge.
3rd repair Aug '04 Out of calibration. Rear antenna more sensitive than front. No charge.
4th time to VR... I felt that the laser detector wasn't working. Too quiet. No random falses from Lexus/Infinity and not brake light falses from Envoy/Trailblazer neon CHML. Did not respond to 2 lidar LEOs. Time to check the POP upgrade hype so I sent it in $75. New internals (I assume) laser works like a charm.

Great customer service, and they didn't charge me for the minor adjustments.

Laser repaired 03/05 no charge even replaced my antenna covers and a new top cover (possible stripped screw was why) I have never seen anyone being charged for a repair, they even pay shipping.
They even refunded my shipping when I returned a 3.818 last year.
