Blackjack if you run USA mode your gonna get a whole lot more Junk alerts from other detector as 33.8 Ghz is where some of them live

34.3 ghz ( radar direct don't agree) Maybe blackjack can tell his findings on this one

34.6 ghz (so I say and radar direct will comfirm that to be Auto protrol 100)

35.5 ghz I'm thinking this is Kustom Eagle or Talon not too sure

The first two are mobile speed cameras.

I'm not sure about 34.3Ghz or 35.5Gz ghz1, but I get lots of hits on 34.6 and 34.7 Ghz. I'll going to Wellington tomorrow so I'll set the RX65 to Ka USA and hope I spot a camera van.

Despite the possibility of some falsing, I prefer to use Ka USA (assuming it detects all the Ka bands in use in NZ), to get the extra sensitivity, particularly on the open road when I'm giving the 'Z' a canning.

However, I have to say that Ka Int. has worked extremely well with virtually no falsing whatsoever, and even Laser seems to be quite good, but I'm thinking that Laser is the greatest risk, so I may have to invest in a jammer.

I rolled into Wellington this afternoon and picked up a couple of mobile LEO's 34.7 and 34.68 so I suppose they must both have been Stalkers. No scamera vans unfortuately, they're never there when you want one

Laser is around but not very often. I've been tagged a couple of times around the Ngauranga Gorge by a motorcycle cop one of which was 15Kph over briefly :shock: Once on SH2 by the Haywards lights and once at the top of Hadfields Hill just outside Pram that was 15Kph over too and the prick ignored my rabbit and went after me. If you are running Ka USA you're unprotected against the camera vans. Keep your eyes peeled.

Interestingly, I called a mate of mine who bought a new STi whilst in the USA recently, and he says it works really great. The reason I find this interesting is that the Sti does not have a Ka Int. setting, i.e. you can only turn Ka on or off, (neither does it have Ku but that doesn't matter here).

He says that it does pick up the camera vans, so I'm now wondering what the difference is (if there is one), between the Sti with Ka on and the RX65 set to Ka USA mode. Also offered to loan me his Sti to try if I need to replace the RX65.

I think I just need to find a camera van to satisfy myself on this point.

On another point, I don't think our motorcycle cops have any radar, they just have to follow you and set their calibrated speedos to measure your speed over a set distance, makes it real difficult to spot them at night. Many of them probably carry laser guns in their sidebags, but then they have to be stationary to use them.

Well I have only seen one camera van and it was using 34.6, but plenty of marked and unmarked police cars which were all using 37.2xx Ghz. I asked Radar Direct and they said no Multanova's are in use in NZ.

So, based on what I found so far I'm continuing to use Ka USA even though I get the occasional false at 35Ghz which I think is the LO from some other brand of radar detector. However, another web site I looked at had tested both Ka USA and Ka Int., and the results seem to show that Ka USA was only slightly more sensitive than Ka Int.

Anyway, no evidence of 34.3Ghz yet,....... you may still be right.

Thinking this is typo and should be 34.7 Ghz (stalker) as Ka stops at 36 Ghz. Thats great that you can use U.S mode and still get the van's but be warned I'm thinking that USA mode only scans +/- 100 MHz either side of 33.8, 34.7, and 35.5 Ghz (do a search). I also found my cell phone to false my old RX65 around 35.5 Ghz (this I did not like at all)
Down south here theres very few 35.5 Ghz unmarked cop cars. The thing is they don't like using them as its hard to get a lock as the band width is narrow and low powered, so not too much fun on the highway for them :wink:

Carbonhed had a play with the V1 and a radar van the other day.I found that if you hold the V1 on it's side pointing forwards it gets a little better distance.... or seems a bit faster is a better way of putting it. However im very happy with the warning when it's mounted in it's normal spot.

Oops, must have been the wine, yeah I meant 34.7xx. Went for a run in the 'Z' this morning and found two marked LEO cars both using instant on, ......seems like they want to play dirty. I had thought they would need two LEO's in each car to use this mode effectively but seems they can do it with one, albeit that the traffic was very light.

Still, no 34.3Ghz camera vans, and when I was using Ka Int. I never got any hits on 35.5Ghz,....I really doubt there is any 35.5Ghz in use in NZ.
