Default Hiding the STI on the dash

Anyone have any suggestions on keepin the STI out of site if a cop come by and I am parked? Also will it work if I have a colored piece of plactic in front of it to block the veiw?

As a trucker I need to keep it out of site.

Hardwire it high near the RVM, should be all you need.

As a trucker I don't have a rvm, it will have to go on the dash. Not sure if it will make a difference if its on the windsheild or back a few inches.

Seems like it might be worth your while to fabricate a mounting box for your CB and scanner then tuck the STi in the box with the rest of the electronics. Maybe even with a dummy panel on the front. Home depot has bulk aluminum panels you can cut down to create whatever structure you want. Maybe a smoked lexan cover you can flip down when you park would work too.

Don't you like how I'm good at making more work for you to do

Hey Bob, I am a truck driver also. I use either of my rd's on the dash just to the left of the CB radio. Seems to work fine for me. Remember, picking up laser in a semi is very difficult. This requires extra laser detection. Most of the time, good eyes can see the laser anyway. Funny thing, I just showed a truck driver my Bel STi the other day. The guy was from Rockford IL, and said he was very impressed.

I'm more concerned about getting caught with it then getting a real good signal. I'm not a speeder in the truck so mainly have it to breakup the boredome of driving.

I'm buying the rd for the bike and all the miles in the truck will be a good way to learn it. I think I will have it tucked in by the CB and GPS and can pull it off when I go through a scale. I also thought about just covering it up with my hat.

I thought about that because my dad always kept ball caps on the dash of our family van when I was growing up. We went on a fishing trip to Ontario, and we came out of a rest area and found a mounty inside our van (no one was around) looking under the cap for a RD. Apparently people up there did that all the time, and my dad being an attorney questioned the legality of the guy entering our vehicle with no permission. My dad never used RDs so it didn't have a bad ending -- just kinda strange.

Bob , make sure you break the tab from the rj connector , you can then unplug it with one hand , and it is fit enough not to disconnect from vibration ...

Bob this is my name ...also
