    Default STI info...

Can someone educate me on this 33.8 Flash fix that is occuring on the BEL STI. I bought mine Jan 07 and I have not had any warnings for any type of service required. What is happening for the unit to have to be upgraded? :?:

From what I know the STi had problems alerting to Ka 33.8 ghz. I either gives a really late alert or no alert at all to this frequency of Ka.

Here are some other topics that were posted about it.

    Hope that helps.

Important for you to find out if your local cops (or those in the areas you drive the most) use the MPH Ka radar units, 33.8 Ka is only for those units, so if the answer is yes, you should go into more details about this bug/fix, if the answer is no, just forget about it... most of the city police dpt and troopers use the other radar units, 34.7 Ka and 35.5 Ka...

Personally I've never had problems detecting the 33.8 Ka radars, Toronto police uses 33.8 Ka exclusively, and my STI (A4M9) is built in Aug. '06 and no "bug" fix for me...

Hey RW. I think we've had this exact same discussion on another posted message before... 8)

    1. To claim most of the city cops and troopers use 34.7 and 35.5 has no basis in fact. Maybe they're the bands you've come across most in your own personal travels.

    2. If you had a problem picking up 33.8 how would you know? I've seen Sti's completely silent until they're almost on top of the 33.8 gun.

to D1pathfinder. Send your Sti in for the flash fix. You never know when you'll encounter 33.8 and you want to make sure you're getting all the warning you can. Plus, others on this forum claim the flash also adjusts the speed of the autodimming, and I for one, also believe they have boosted 34.7 detection (although this is just a theory.)

I 100% agree. The rumor is that the firmware was completely rewritten from the ground up, and that Bel addressed minor several issues aside from the 33.8 bug. I have noticed that my STi, after its re-flash for the 33.8 bug, definitely is more sensitive on all bands. Amazingly, I haven't had one false yet due to a Cobra RD even though there are a lot of Cobras on the road around here. Note that I have POP turned off though, so that likely is why I don't get falses from Cobras.

TRUE, everything I say is based on my own personal experience... but a pretty extensive one...

    No MPH at all...

I think you've done very well upgrading your STI, if you're happy with the flashed STI nothing else matters, in my case I'm not too concerned with 33.8 Ka, Toronto cops always drive with their radar units ON, pretty easy to detect them before they detect you... when I went to Maine via Quebec, all OPPs on 401 (east of Kingston) were using K radar units, so far I wasn't "lucky" to meet any 33.8 Ka alert outside Toronto, this includes Ontario, Quebec and USA...

You better send your unit in to really find out if your unit is bug free. You'll never know until it's been tested. I've been waiting and waiting and waiting with no STi in the mail..

    Hi Azone,

Call up Belscort and ask if in when your STi was shipped back and for the tracking number. It would be awful to find out that your STi has disappeared from your mail box or en-route, indeed becoming stealthier than you ever imagined!

I'm talking about your STi. You said you were to mail it.
