Low range Ka encounter question.

Have a question.

I just had a Ka encounter in which the LEO was sitting, facing me at about 25-30 degrees off axis. I entered the highway at about 500 to 1000 yards away from him. I did not receive an alert until I was entering the freeway at the peak of the ramp and had line of sight to him. The alert I received was 1-2 bars Ka. It was raining at the time.

My question is: He was sitting monitoring traffic in a construction zone. Do the Ka guns have a stand by so to speak where you will faintly detect them? I have not received this short of a Ka detection in the last 2 weeks with this unit.

Nope, there's no standby where they emit a weak signal. In standby, they will not be transmitting anything at all.

Hard to say what you experienced, all we can really do is guess... maybe a Ka handheld laying on the seat? Who knows.

You know Jimbonzzz, that's probably it. Maybe it was on the seat. I passed him earlier getting off at that exit coming up on him from behind and nothing. It was dark so I couldn't tell if he was snoozin'. I wonder.....

Ka can sure be inconsistent at times.

X2. May also be the combo of the unit being on his seat. You would be surprised how many times they leave there gun on when putting it down to eat a donut...

Not so sure he was stuffing his face with Krispy Cremes now.... This 940 bit the dust today. "service required" now, nothing, no power, nothing. I am fumed bigtime.
