Have a look at Bel's comparison chart:

    http://www.beltronics.com/radardetectors.html

The 995, RX-65 and Sti are the only detector's with selectable bands.

You can use City NoX but I have seen there is still a slight visual alert at times. I like X turned off in SE Michigan.

The tech mode is also well worth it on the 995.

Tech mode I understand is the ability to see what band is being shot at you? I also noticed on Bel's site that the 995 has better filtering with what they call DSP. Does it actually filter better than the other vector's? If it does than that would definately be worth a few extra dollars!

You have to take (some) of Bel's claims with a grain of salt. Especially the "range vs. imports" claim. It's a marketing gimmick.

The 995 is a very quiet detector, and quite sensitive in it's own right.

Bottomline is, if you like the frequency display (tech mode) and shutting down X band, grab the 995. It's fully flashable for further firmware upgrades by Belscort. I would also suggest ordering the extended warranty.

Thanks for all the info. I think I will go with the 995. Its $239 at walmart. Have not found it any cheaper yet but that seems like a good price. Its only $20 more than the 965.

    tsapilot,
As LordVector said, you will enjoy the 995. Be SURE and get the extended warranty from Beltronics.

Read the tests again and noticed something else. The 965 did noticably better against the 35.5 ka. and got two out of three on the pop. Don't know if this means that much in the real world just a noted difference. If I understand this, with techmode if im getting k band it has to be 24.05 to 24.25 MHz. to be a police radar gun. I read this from the tech notes. Anything else would be a false?

Keep in mind that there is about a 2dBm production variance in sensitivity in all of the Bel and Escort products. Note that I said 2dbm as in +/-1dBm, not +/- 2dBm. Keep this in mind when looking at the GOL test results. Also note that a GOL member confided in me that the POP test setup didn't turn out to be nearly as ideal as they desired. Thus take the POP test results with a grain of salt.

Thanks for the technical stuff. That helps. Is my assumption about the freqs correct? I am also correct in assuming that the 995 or 965 is better than my 895. I can't seem to find some of the test info I looked at over a year ago before bying the 895. I remember that the 895 did very well but that was a little while back.

The 895 was a very good radar detector during its time. But, yes, the current Vectors do surpass it -- especially in Ka performance. And laser detection is more refined too.
