    Default Sti is dead

While we were doing some "personal testing" at GOL today (non-official tests just for our own enjoyment) I found out the thing was dead on 34.7 and K band.

Yet, the Sti powers up nicely and doesn't give any Self-Cal or Service Required warnings.

Luckily I'll be heading through Cincinnati tomorrow so I can drop off the thing. (Mfg date 23/07, so its basically its a few weeks out of warranty.)

Sorry to hear about a $450 investment behaving like this just one year into service. The good news is you mentioned GOL testing keeping us all anxious here to see the results.

    Unhappy Ya..

Ya.. this doesn't suprise me a hole lot. As even back at last years invational your Sti Driver was acting kind of funny to me, on 33.8 even with a bug fix? Not alerting still, had me concerned. Whereas mine that didn't even have the fix, was alerting everytime? This leads me to beleive even more that it's not totally a bug fix issue, that it's more of a TUNING issue. When the Sti is used very frequently, and it begins to fall off of tune it falls off of tune on 33.8 first. Then 34.7. Then 35.5 im guessing. I have no test's or proof to quite confirm this just yet. Although from what i've seen it sure seems to be looking that way. Also Jerry when we came up to that stop light on the way to the testing site i shot moving Ka Band 34.7 ghz stalker ATR. So maybe that will tell us more, if you can remember how your unit alerted then? One last thing, NY State Thruway troopers use a LOT of 34.7.

    Default that

That sucks Jerry but at least you found out. When it gets fixed, maybe I can test it out against my Spectre to see how stealth it really is? Good luck Jerry.

I suppose that this could happen if either the X band or the K/Ka band LNA dies due to leaving a STi baking in the sun. This is a question for Jimbonzzz! Jim, where are you?

Jerry540i, was your STi totally dead on Ka band, or just having horrible Ka band sensitivity? Just curious.

I was wondering why the Rd detector companies dont give out 2 or 3 year warranty on their products.
After all all they do is sit in the car during driving times and I am sure alot of us take them down at night or when you leave your car alone.
