Default Did I do Something Wrong?

This is not a trolling post to get a round of V1 vs Belscort bashing

I just installed the STi-r. Just one day of experience I think I have a problem. I run the V1 (3.872) and was comparing the it to the STi-r. So far only the usual annoying K band door openers to test against. I thought the Bel would be significantly better on K band (from other users posts and GOL testing), however I am not seeing good results. I receive alerts, but frankly the V1 is performing significantly better instead of the other way round. This is not what I expected against constant-on K band sources.

I've tried running with both detectors, and one at a time. In heavy traffic and-or light/no traffic, very same results. I've put the Bel in HWY mode, Auto, but the results don't change. I posted pics of the antenna in the show off your install thread. The antenna head is not recessed or obstructed.

Any ideas?? Unit Variation?? Call Bel and ask for service?

well your antenna is upside down as you just learned, and my V1 beats my STI R 90% on K band. It's Ka band you'll be impressed with. the STI - R beats it 99% of the time for me.

    I like the disclaimer.

I've tested my V1 3.872 Vs. X50 Vs. 9500ix (when I still had it) against various K speed signs ... against some of them the V1 wins clearly and by a long way, but against some it's essentially a tossup. Forward facing of course. Point is, there are a lot of variables in real world testing ... Even the last GOL test, the V1 beat the STI-R on 1 of 3 runs.

I'd say find some more testing sources before you give up on the STI-R.

If I have POP turned on with the V1 it will alert before the STi-R about half the time and the other half the STi-R will alert first. When I have the POP off on the V1 it will get beat most of time on K band. Like aa said you will be impressed when it comes to some of the Ka alerts that you get. Also, like sniper said off axis is where the STi-R shines that and forward facing radar.

on top of it the STi-R has excellent door opener filtering

Seeing that I've only tested against my local pharmacies, maybe that explains it. I need to find some speed signs or a LEO

x2 find some leo's and see how you do, i recommend also searching around, as you see in our sigs, me and meto have RDR off, and Ka segmentation on. I would recommend leaving RDR on if you are in an area where there are a lot of radar detector users, as you'll get a lot of Ka falses otherwise (It works the same was as the V1 Ka Guard).

I also have improved Ka detection with the segmentation on. a few searches of the forums will explain it

P.S. I have POP and Laser off.. dunno if it helps any.

I have noticed that on real threats the STi-R alerts first most of the time, but on doe openers and other false threats the V1 does better.

I presume as mentioned above this is due to the filtering in the STi-R.

I have run my Sti-R against my IX and X50 and the results are similar. My X50 appears to be unusually hot to K band and beats both of the other units. Not by much but none the less it is still alerting quicker.

But when it comes to KA band the Sti-r leaves the other two in the dust with the ix coming in second and the X50 a close third.

The absolute biggest advantage I have seen with the STi-r is its ability to pick up radar around curves and over hills much better than the others.

    I think you are ok!
