V940 Question/Concern

I'm new to the forums since I picked up a used V940 for 85 bucks 2 days ago.

I drove a lot in Miami on Sunday when I first used it and it did not once go off at all, pretty strange but maybe there were no speed traps that day even though a few cops passed right by me in the city and one on the highway. Same deal today, it did not go off at all. Now after reading the manual it said that at start up it runs through the sounds and stuff but mine refuses to do that and just goes straight to Highway or City Low X band.

I checked the program menu for the quick and standard start up and still nothing, another thing I noticed is that my setting never save even though it gets complete and when I go back into the menu it reads all default for the 6 options. Additionally, every time I check the volume it has no bars and I have to hold it for the volume and bars to raise but I have to do this every single time I get in and out of the car which is annoying but I really don't know how anything sounds because it has never detected anything. I did the factory reset a few times with the same luck. Is it defective or is this normal?

You just answered your own question. You got a defective unit. Should have saved up a few more bucks and got a new one....

Good news. It detected a K band school speed zone radar sign so I guess its working fine now since it picked up something...

I would not rely on this detector just because it picked up a speed sign. try a reset and see if starts to work normally else you would be well served sending it to Bel for a check up.

Hey JD did you ever get your problem figured out mine just started doing the exact same thing

It is simply in quick start mode. Let me find the manual for my 995, and quote it.

The PwrOn is set to FST instead of STD.

This change be changed by holding the two button on the right "Mute" and "Mode" (I believe) for about 5-10 secs after startup.

You can reset the whole RD by holding the same buttons on startup.

Also, try to Download the user's manual from Beltronics website.

I changed the programming it says complete but goes back to pre change settings. I also did a reset and no luck there either
