Default My 06 BMW K1200S mount. What I did and why: Pics attached

Following completion of mounting an M-25 Blinder system on my BMW M-3 I decided to do the same for my BMW K1200S.

I used one M-25 jammer and located it under the nose and attached it to the bottom of the radiator. (I used 3M double stick tape.)

I ran the jammer wire through the side of the fairing in a small hole I drilled. I used the small compartment on the left side of the bike for the electrics and switching.

As for the buzzer I wanted it to face me so I could possible hear it when it goes off. I used 3M double stick tape for this also. Ideally I would have preferred an audio out that I could input into my Autocomm Pro AVI.)
On the upside, I also have a Valentine One that is input to the Autocomm so I can depend on that for my laser as well as radar warning.

I wired the M-25 directly to the battery and used the included switch to turn it on and off. (Since the K1200s has a CAN-bus electrical system I can not tap into it for power switching. And since the V1 is already hooked up via the Autocomm switch I did not want to possibly blow a fuse.

Also-to head off any questions, the GPS unit you see is a Garmin 2820. It forwards NAV voice, MP3 music, Bluetooth phone calls via my Treo 700P as well as radar and laser warnings to my Autocomm Pro AVI.

Hope this help any prospective installers.

I checked it out and doesnt show me anything as in proof.

I suggest you check out http://www.blinderxtreme.blogspot.com/

Where this test the NEW M45 blinder, after you see that you will know why your jammer is one of the worst.

Average punchthroughs of 900 ft for LTI ultralyte and 1200 ft for the Laser Atlanta.

And remember you have the old M-25 :?

The M25 is the latest version and has the 12 volt high power jammer heads.

Outrun is coming over with his police laser to test.

I let you know the results.

16 Volt they bumped the voltage and are using a higher voltage LED.
    Nice install.
Also i might add the blinder system uses very little amperage so i would not be afraid of blowing a fuse it comes with a 2 amp glass type and the 2 amp fuse is more than ample pardon the pun.

How is the M25 the lastest over the M45???
You are a newbie or a guy pushing blinder on these forums.
As for Outrun he has been popping up videos for Blinder lately so I dont know what he has to do with them... ie. paid off by them, making commericals for them, or both......

Smoke and Mirrors lately on these boards

Check the link http://www.blinderxtreme.blogspot.com again if you dont know already.

Nice Install of everything but your jammer is useless

    You and Outrun have fun

The M25 has two jamming heads and the M45 has 4 jamming heads. Forunately there is more to jamming than just using the Blinder.

Darker cars reflect less light than lighter cars. Less frontal area is better etc.

I'll see how the test works out today with Outruns particular laser.

I have nothing to do with Blinder other than I bought 2- M25s. I don't need JTG type of results. Just enough time to slow down and my M3 and K1200S slow down incredibily fast.

    Here are the results.

In this testing I was targeted as well as engaged in the targeting so I witnessed and experienced both sides.

The police laser was a Pro laser 3, one of the widely used units here in the DFW area. It is very easy to operate and achieves very quick range and range rate data on non-jammer equipped autos and motorcycles. It was pretty much shutdown by the Blinder M25.

    Tests:
    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I made multiple runs with the K1200S and overall found JTG when aimed center mass at the headlight. In fact, the first 3- runs were complete JTG. It was possible to get a lock in close off of my helmet and also when specifically setting the aim point low at the bottom of the fairing, but this required a tripod to consistently hold the laser on spot. Not to mention the LEO would start center mass and then possibly move after a few seconds of no return there by allowing me plenty of time to slow down..

Overall the M25 offered real world protection against the pro Laser 3 pretty much up to the gun.
The Valentine worked as advertised and screamed laser alert every time with the exception of when an in close very low aim point was used. At this point the laser beam was so narrow it was not in the V1 field of view.
    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The next test was against my M3. Multiple runs were made with a few JTG results and the rest with burn through from a very close in 35 feet to a max of around 300 feet. Again, very close range defeats and I had ample time to slow down prior to burn through. The burn through could have been attributed to the angle created when shot across 4 traffic lanes. I visually picked up the threat well prior to him ever being a factor however.
The V1 alerted me to the threat as before.

    My results:

The result of this testing against my BMW M3 and K1200S using a Pro Laser 3 proved to me that I am completely protected. Although very close in defeats are possible that threat is certainly not the norm and I have very high confidence that I would pick up the threat visually well before that in close range shot.
From the first alert at a typical engagement range I had approximately 5-10 seconds of warning to slow down. This is of course dependant on your closure speed.

    85MPH= 124 feet per second.

So traveling at 85MPH with a 1500 ft engagement and possible 300 ft burn through taken into account I would have around 10 seconds to adjust my speed prior to a possible burn through range.

Again traveling at 85MPH with a 1000ft engagement and 300 ft burn through taken into account I would have around 5 ½ seconds to adjust my speed prior to a possible burn through range.

So I am extremely happy with the results. I’m not a Blinder representative, just an independent guy that has a Blinder product on his vehicles.

    Walt

P.S. Certainly there are those 25 year olds on this Blinder forum that have over 300 posts that believe they know everything about a product they do not own. For them there is no convincing otherwise. For the rest of you, I believe a properly mounted M25 Blinder system will offer you real world protection. (Keep in mind different targets throw off different returns so if your vehicle is completely different from mine I would highly recommend testing them.)

Also- Special thanks to Jason "Outrun" and his father for their assistance and making this testing possible.
