    +1 on both counts.

Even with today's most "powerful" laser-diode based jammers - using optical collimators to effect best-reception - "rear protection," in terms of the very real-world concern of "true JFG," is still a rather pessimistic situation.

Don't bother with *any* LED-based jammers, if rear-protection is on your ticket.

I would truly go with a full-forward (all 4 heads forward) mounting, to best-optimize your chances of defeating, JTG, any frontal threat.

And yes, put the heads "outside" the grill/mesh - alternatively, cut the grill/mesh to achieve a "flush" mount, but leaving the line-of-sight clear for the jammer's output.

This is someone with personal experience of mounting Blinder heads behind a mesh grill<------INSTANT PUNCHTHROUGH ON LASER ATLANTA, AND LTI ULTRALYTE!

I know for a fact tha blinder heads obstructed are useless. I urge you not to listen to a blinder dealer (steagall) and not put the heads obstructed at all

Heck I don't even recommend the blinder because of the shotty performance but if you are going to use the Blinders they need to be 100% unobstructed

    Use the red install places,

And to mount it in the girll you need to cut the gril so it's unobstructed

    Default thats interesting

    crazyVOLVOrob,

every mesh grill is different. I think we can all agree on that. Some reduce performance some may not.. Since I know after seeing my friends red mercedes perfessionally installed only get a few punch-throughs at 154 feet and 193 feet behind his mesh grill kinda proves your so called theory crazyVOLVOrob wrong. The Blinder in this case performed very well. Now my recommendation is its better to put the heads where there is no obstruction. I totally agree with this. But if you do not feel like cutting into such a nice mesh grill, then my recommendation was to put them behind it. Again, I will be doing another test with a stalker LZ-1. If my friends mercedes performes the same as this last test, then I would say your good to go on the mesh grill. If I get instant punch-throughs, then I would say keep the heads in front of the grill. " The only way to know for sure with your mercedes, is test it yourself." 8)

    Default Final Thought!

    BiGDn2s,

My friend who owns the silver mercedes would probably love to share his experiences with you on how well his Blinder M25 works. He has gone through a few speed traps and has had more than enough time to slow down. In the 9 years blinder has been in business, Leon at blinder has only written 3 speeding tickets back to customers that recieved one. That alone says enough about how good the blinder product is.

Hmmmm Who should you believe? Someone who sells Blinders for a living or a kid that knows how to shot a laser gun and personally got a 1943ft punchthrough with the Stalker LZ1 on a Blinder M20 unobstructed mouted on a Silver Dodge Charger? A person who had a licence blinder retail screw up the install(mounted blinder heads behind my mesh grill on my Volvo which I personally tested with my personal Laser Atlanta.
Here is a picture of my grill so you can judge just how your grill compares

Heck I even still got a Blinder M20 on my ride....Though what i find funny is the performance of the testing of my M20 doesn't equal the results of the testing I have seen by those who are finanically biased towards blinder?

Still no tickets with the Blinder M20 and LaserShield though but I only go 15mph over the limit so I can easily slow down to just minimum of 10 over the psl usually where cops wont ticket....Also fron what i have seen of the NYS troopers is they only pull you over at above 80 in a 65...Plus with the CB i know way in advance where they are sitting

    crazyVOLVOrob,

I believe your mesh grill is too obstructive. Its nothing as thin as the grill on the mercedes. As for who do I believe?? Well Not you of course! Show me a video proving this 1900 foot punch-through and I will believe You. Anyone can say one thing and do another. I proved with my video that a mesh grill from a red SL500 class mercedes, did not cause any performance issue's. I thought at first it would. So just because you can shoot a laser guns means nothing to me or anybody else. But thank you for your reply. By the way Sweet Ride

    Peace

I got my M40's now I just need to figure out the mounting part of the deal. I would prefer not to cut into the mesh inserts on the bumper or the grill... What do you all think are my options?

    Your options are:
    1. follow CrazyVOLVOrob's advice..
    2. Install 2 heads behind the mesh and two heads in the lower grill area. Word to the wise though, you will get you @ss spanked, cleaned, and powdered if your headlights are targetted by accident. Those two heads will probably be useless. And the probability that a cop will accidentally target your headlights because of shaky aim is just TOO high.

You are going to have to "Take the Hit" and cut the grill, or you should look into replacing your grill with one that has a thinner profile.
