its like I said earlier he thinks some bad particles got in there and damaged the cylinder liners or something like that, I guess the techs ran a compression test when it was in the 2nd time, but I agree whats a computer know about compressionOriginally Posted by SmaartAasSaabr
I dunno a 427 is already overkill, I mean replacing a 1.8 with a 7 liter!!!!!!Originally Posted by DogGod
that would be amusing
the 2zz is a excellent engine too bad toyota doesn't use it in the corolla anymore. Oh and I agree that if some road debris gets sucked in the engine well that blows :x . The 2zz has a special cam lobe it's VVTL (variable valve timing and lift) just like VTEC. I advise your brother to keep it. Go to a aftermarket engine shop bore out the engine and tell them to throw some JE FORGED pistons/crower rods and maybe spray it 100shot. Much cheaper/better idea than trying to stick a honda block that won't fit because the motor mounts are different and it won't bolt up to the transmission (unless you dump $$$ for someone to custom fabricate all the parts you need)
ive heard about a person in my area that supposedly has a vq35hr engine in a civic around my area... supposedly pulls rwd... ive never seen it only heard rumors... its also apparently has an aps tt on it... like i said ive only heard rumors about it, dont really know why someone would put a 350z engine in a civic but if its true i think it would be kinda cool i guess... im very skeptical of the reality of this until i see it...
does your brother have any machine shop experience... cause hed have to make the mounts and such... or have to pay someone to do it... still not sure why he would put a honda engine in it, sure its really reliable but wtf??? and as for the sticker idea i think you should give him a hearty ho smack to the side of his head... if i were going to put that much work into something and was dead set on something that bizarre id put the 2jz-gte engine in it and change out the sequential twins to just a single turbo... those things can get over 1000 hp if you know what youre doing... and who would see that coming? one hell of a sleeper
There's a black Saab 900 drag racer somewhere on the Internet with a supercharged 454 and rear drive on it...
yea dont swap a honda motor thats so much money and work and stuff.
WOW p8ik8e I would like to see someone fit a I-6 in a new celica. especially a longetudinal I-6.
NO STICKERS thats so lame on ur borthers part wow i would egg that car if i saw it on the street.
Just bore out the cylenders and get new pistons. i jsut did that to my supra cost like 600-700$ and then u get basically a fresh engine. at least the piston part. slap a turbo on that car and u got some real speed
Funny thing about the VVTL-i, it later showed that it did NOT pass euro spec emissions, and since Toyota deemed that fixing up those engines to meet Euro emissions would be too costly, they dropped the 2ZZ and VVTL-i along with it, sad but thats how it is, I got that off Wikipedia in case youre wondering.............. so the Lift controller stays in Honda's hands that much longerOriginally Posted by WRC

He doesnt like the idea of boring out engines, he thinks since theres less material on the cyliners it lowers its structural integrity or heat dissipation, or whatever, he just doesnt like that stuff................. but I will admit i never thought of that, its a good idea to keep in mindOriginally Posted by Whytetygerwolf
Ive seen wierd things done to Hondas over the years, ive seen a few Accords and Preludes with 4WD conversions, and I think thats interestingly fun idea, I thought about trying it on the CL, but then I thought the cost would be WAY too highOriginally Posted by p8ik8e
yea well hopefully he would only need to have it bored out such a miniscule amount that it shouldnt matter with heat disapation and all that good stuff. If he did have a big enough gouge in his combustion chamber or whatver that boring it out would make a big difference, what got in his engine?!?! haha yea id go with getting a used JDM engine with like 40K on it
