You mount it straight and level pointing straight out the windshield. Not up at the sky or down at the road but level as a plank [replacer_img]
Thanks for all the feedback, everyone. Just wondering if any of you have actually had first-hand experience with the R9G, or if you are just going off of what you've heard and Cobra's reputation? I was thinking this model might be an improvement for them.

I read VeilGuy's review and several others which favored the detector. So I figured at a discount of $150 if would be fine. But I've also heard some horrible things about Cobra in general. I've definitely held off my purchase thanks to your comments though!

Also, what is so different about how State Troopers operate? And are there any other remote systems similar to the Cobra besides the 9950 ci? I would like something in the same price range ($250 on sale)

If you must have a remote system that is within a reasonable price look into the Whistler Pro-3450 which can be found for <$250 if ya look around. I'm not sure exactly on its performance but I'd bet it would out do the Cobra on Ka. All Cobra RDs are pretty much dumb and deaf to most Ka and especially 35.5.

Personally I think your best bet would be to go with the Pro-78 Rev. C as it has improved Ka band sensitivity and is almost right up there with some of the big dogs when it comes to Ka.

Depending on what state you live in State Troopers are pretty good at running Instant On Ka radar and if your detector can't pick up that brief burst to give you a warning then you're pretty toast if you wander into his sights and he hits you with instant on.

I work at a hospital and when I walk by the Physician parking lot I see alot of high end cars and 90 % of them have a crapra. Why would you spend 60,000-100,000 on a car and buy a $50 radar detector.

beacause money buys the car, not intelligence about it

Okay, so I'm testing out a R7 right now. It seems alright, but I haven't really been putting it in real use. No way I'm keeping this thing though. The coolness factor wore off even before I opened the box.

I will be getting a XTR-695 as soon as I can get my hands on one. What do you think? And where is the best place I should order one from?

That's because they spent so much on the car, they don't have enough $$$ to buy a good detector!

Radio Shack maybe, or Circuit City. Just do not go to ebay or craigslist.

From what I see, at least in the stores and not online, ALL Circuit City sells in stores is MOSTLY Cobra, but they do sell some Bel. Radioshack, I think they sell Cobra mostly

Any ways, I have seen Autozone and possibly Advanced Auto Parts (not sure if those are nation wide, but in the Chicago land area in Indiana), They had ONLY Whistlers and NO Cobras! Thumbs up to them!

Circuit City tho does sell Whistlers and I think maybe one or two Escorts online

Haha well from what I've seen, the XTR695 is nowhere to be found. Hopefully that will change in a couple of weeks. I don't like waiting...

Living in Texas we all see the same thing. Cobras EVERYWHERE! I also see lots of other detectors too though. A lot of 8500 x50's and bels and i have seen 10-15 V1's in the past like 6 months. The sad part is that I have used some of these V1 users as rabbits...
