    Default Crapra Count

Ok today, I officially saw 31 Cobras that cost $70 and under. Yes.... 31. I don't know, but that seems to be a little overkill. The only "higher end" RD I've seen around here has been a non-x50. WTF?

That's all I see around here is Cobras except for 1 day in a really nice car I saw a V1 and it was mounted properly too. I did a little dance for joy right there in the parking lot.

Sadly I pick up Cobras all day long with my 73 and it gets annoying at times to have it going off 3 or 4 times within 5 minutes on Ka just because of Crapras and it's even worse when they are right behind me

Pulled up to a white truck at a stoplight, and was surprised to find a hardwired V1 mounted level and high. I grinned from ear to ear.

But alas...the car in front of him had a Cobra. Never really tried to count; never really cared, but 31 seems like a bundle...

i see um every which way, on any which car. . . all mounted improperly, and terribly low, I swear it seems that the idiots who buy into the Cobra = good nonsense are the idiots who cant seem to mount their crap properly. . . thats not to say I dont see some higer-end models mounted wrong, just not as often

Hey guys, I'm totally new to RDs and am actually about to buy a Cobra r9g. I know, I know. But I can get this for $250 brand new and it seems to be pretty good. I would love to have a V1 or 9500 but I don't really want to spend $500. What do you guys think?

My post to this thread is about mounting though. How do people mount their detectors wrong? I was assuming I'd mount the detector at the top of the windshield and having it point straight out??

    Thanks for the help.

No. It's not "Pretty good" at all and if you read around the forums you will find out their range is OK but if you get hit with Ka forget it, it's just a ticket notifier at that point. For that much well actually LESS you can have a better detector that won't leak and set off other RDs. Do all of us and you a favor and get a Whistler Pro 78 instead of the cobra.

You mount it straight and level pointing straight out the windshield. Not up at the sky or down at the road but level as a plank [replacer_img]

Any detector "howling at the moon" is doing the user no good at ground based radar.

Please bend the metal mount they give you so it is level, don't just expect it to come custom to your windshield.

Even if you can't see the display in the sunlight, DON'T un-level it.

I wish you the best with your purchase.

Dont Do It! Buy A Whistler Pro 78 Or A Bel Vector! They Are Both Pretty Cheap And Have So Much Better Performance On Ka!

Cobras are almost dead to Ka band in general, but especially dead to 35.5GHz Ka band. If you get hit with 35.5Ka, it is very likely that you will get no alert, whatsoever:
